Here are some recent news that indicate increasing awareness about political
activism among NRI’s. This is a good sign and there are many more areas in
which NRI’s can contribute towards building positive image of India. They
also need to participate in the national building process away form politics
especially in the area of education.

Hindu mobs against Muslims in the Indian state of Gujarat earlier this year.
As word of the pending resolution spread, Indian-American groups inundated
Senate offices with e-mails and phone calls opposing the resolution. "We did
not move on this because we were buried" by messages, says a congressional
aide”

2. Indian Americans help unseat US lawmaker
Anti-India US lawmaker Cynthia McKinney was recently defeated. Cinthia’s

have made inflammatory statements about Jews. Most of McKinney's money came
from Muslim or Arab surnames. (http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A10364-2002Aug12.html)
