1. Time may consider retracting article on PM
An indication to this came on Tuesday when a delegation of Indian Americans
met Time Managing Editor at the Time House in Manhattan and confronted him
with Vajpayee's medical records for the past 20 years, which a doctor and a
member of the delegation said had been pretty good. Time staff did not make
any comment as to why they published an article for which there is no factual
basis. Time did not defend their story so strongly as they did last week.

2. Some comments on two TIME articles:
Indians must do tremendous efforts to reverse the tide Pakistani propaganda
and terrorism against our nation. As CWC continues with awareness program, we
shall embark upon more structural strategy to defeat Pakistani propaganda in
future. CWC is planning to set up a network of volunteers across many cities
in future so that we can have wider reach to global as well as regional
media. This will help us have a direct access to the media representatives
and will be in position to meet the biased media to bring the factual
information before them. There are many more areas where CWC wishes to make
impact including internal matters of India (which does need more attention
than the external issues). At the same time we believe: consistency is more
important than the flash response.
We are consistently working for our nation in all possible directions and we
shall continue to do that with your support.

Seshan Subramanian:
Recently the LA times carried an anti-Israeli article. There were immediate
subscription cancellation by 1000 readers. The LA times relented. We Indians
show our weakness and wimpiness everywhere. We think, if we act like Gandhi,
people will recognize us. They do not. The world recognizes power and force,
whatever you may say. We need to show our force and power, by strong actions.
-------
Vikram:
Indians need to take action. it is no use complaining about Time magazine and
other media orgs being the mouthpieces of pakistan. We need to call their
offices or go in person and tell them that our community will cancel its
subscriptions and take other measures if such blind and libelous reporting
continues. When they lose money, and only when they lose money will they try
and reconcile.

Satya Chauhan:
I would not totally diagree with Time's article. The reason being that Mr
Vajpayee seems to be holding on to the unquestionably important position in
indian government system. As a Prime Minister he must be able to perform some
jobs with excellence, which includes painting a reputable image of India
around the world. Considering Mr Vajpayee's health condition he barely meets
these requirements and as a speaker he is I believe pathetic. So he is
unsuitable for the job. It is very necessary for India to compete on PR
front, unfortulnatly Mr Vajpayee is a total failure there. Unfortunately, Mr
Musharraf is doing a far better job. Having said that, I believe one another
responsibility CWC can perform is to let My Vajpayee know about the real
picture.

Debu Sen: (TIME report by Ms.Ganguly)
Well, instead of writing and trying to shame Ms.Ganguly who I think is
already beyond repair, let's take a joint action to blacklist her from all
published news. Let's call all the news bureaus national, international, and
tell them bluntly that we do not want to hear from a pseudo news writer who
lies. Unless we work to make it happen, the whole thing remains an
intellectual exercise. As I said many times, justice has to be demanded, it
does not fall from the sky because you are a nice innocent guy.
--------
M Kothari: (TIME report by Ms.Ganguly)
Boycott Time magazine. When you hit their pocket book, Americans start
understanding the truth. One of the best answer to this problem is making our
community strongest possible. Improve our health (which in turn helps our
morale and confidence), invest in weapons and scientific research. No country
has ruled the world by relying on God but only technology. The world respects
strength and that is what we need. We should give up peac as our policy. We
should fight so hard that enemy should shiver with consequences.
------------
Papia Nandi: (TIME report by Ms.Ganguly)
The statement (by CWC), which seemed of no relevance under the circumstances
of state of affairs in Gujrat, - "...but was careful enough not to use
"Muslim extremists" whose BARBARISM (that can put even the animals to
shame)". This statement posed problems for me to even promote it to my
friends because it seems to turn it into a Hindu cause rather than
Nationalistic/global Cause. I appreciate the tremendous effort you make to
bring the false and unjustified reports about our country and religion to
light but it gets difficult for me when I have to justify the injustice too.
The statements such as the above only serve to highlight the injustice on our
part instead of earning sympathies for the pain we suffered.
--------------
Maya T: (TIME report by Ms.Ganguly)
The majority of Indians including myself do not condone the retaliatory
killing of Muslims. While we are outraged, it is irrespective of the religion
of those killed. Killing is wrong period. However, Meenakshi Ganguly’s
outrage is clearly restricted on behalf of just the Muslims killed. Her
article is full of stories about the barbarism with which Muslims were
killed, but she has conveniently left out stories about the equally barbaric
killing of Hindus in Godhra. She has ignored the general underlying causes of
resentment amongst Hindus and the specific cause for retaliation.
-----------
Bharti Chokshi: (TIME report by Ms.Ganguly)
I believe that every coin has two sides and without listening two sides, one
should not write any reports, particularly the reporter! Unless and until if
that reporter is biased, as in the case of Ms Ganguly! If the muslims whould
not have burnt innocent children, our sisters and brothers in the train,
then, the muslims in Gujarat would not have been attacked in Gujarat! We the
'Hindus' have suffered so much by the hands of Muslims, that now young
generation will not give them other cheek when they give a slap to one cheek.
Yes, I empathize with Muslims who were hurt in the riot but if they want to
live in India, they have to live peacefully just like the Parsy community.
The muslims are testing our patience and yes, we cannot allow them to take
advantage of our goodness.
---------------
Dinesh Pai:
The repeated slangs by the Time Magazine on the Hindu's just goes on to show
that we are doing little to show the true picture to the world. We all know
how we are and how our culture is but we are always fed the opposite by the
media. It is high time we work hard towards nullifying this propaganda. I
would request each one of us on this cwc list to go on a massive membership
drive and each one enroll atleast 5 on his/her friend to this list, am sure
this way we can inform the mass about various issues.
------------
Vikram Merchant:
CNN and Time magazine are part of the same media group that has a strong bias
towards Pakistan. Perhaps this bias has more to do with toeing the US line
and being a tool for US propaganda rather than reporting the news. We should
also consider that the US only looks towards it's own interests and cannot be
considered a bulwark for democratic institutions.
------------
N. Rangappa:
Indian government should take appropriate steps, NOW. Post someone sensible
people to speak out. I am sure eventually US and others will realize the
truth about Pakisthan. But it might be too late. Let us lay down the facts.
Let us ask for justice.
-------------
Milind Naik:
In India Time is also present in form of TV Broadcast. We can get our Cable
operators to switch them off. We can also tell ad agencies to beware of
anti-national image of the product being advertised if associated with Time.
If they do not care about us lets ask them to leave. I am happy to see united
opinion of my countrymen and women
------------
Nainan Desai:
We, who care, must not limit our efforts to penmanship on emails. Let us take
up positive and constructive activism. This should include,
1. meeting the editors and authors of the media and explain them the correct
situation
2. set up media relations teams in each town to interact with local media
3. offer local media to help learn about the truth prior to printing hurtful
articles, and
4. setup a web based data base tracking authors, editors, and media of bad
articles. This will build our position with editors and owners of media who
are ignorant about ulterior motives of biased reporters or authors.
5. and use the most effective media tool of protesting outside homes and
offices of authors and media, while inviting other media to watch/report
exposing biased reporting!
