1. Thanks for the signatures on letter to President.

Thanks to all CWC members who supported our call for action by signing letter to President Bush to confiscate Pakistan’s nuclear capability. This letter has received about 7,000 signatures in less than two weeks. We shall keep you updated.

At the same time, about 7,000 signatures on behalf of 1 billion community on a very sensitive national issue of the existence, should not be considered a good response on any scale. The petition against Israeli PM, Mr.Ariel Sharon has so far received nearly one million signatures. It is a fact that very high percentage of Indians lack national and social responsibility. Indians are basically unwilling to act on anything that falls outside the ‘Me & Mine’ psychosis.

One of the largest signature collection on behalf of Indians was petition against CNN bias. (62,000+ signatures). India has not seen any petition that has crossed 0.1 million mark. We stand where we do without any substantial progress, just because of the conspicuous absence of national pride & basic nature of ‘Who cares’ by the majority of Indians.

3. Opinions: Why we Indians can not take action?

Gayatri Narayan:
“I would like to thank you for starting such a group. This is the need of our time. I have been watching CNN & BBC, which is fully in favor of Pakistan, because of their propaganda against India. We Indians are educated, intelligent, can show our skills at the time of job interview, but fail when it comes to our national interests. Here in USA, Indians can be found everywhere, but its very hard to find any Pakistani. Still Americans hear words and views from Pakistanis. I don’t know why we Indians don’t take action. Why don’t we use this electronic media as our weapon. Pakistan has started his war and using e-media. We Indians should be ashamed, we have 20 times more literate then Pakistan.“

Seshan Subramanian:
“We all Indians need to be united and show our love and passion for our Motherland. Unfortunately I find that many of the Indians are concerned with their own self, family and may be their state or region. This bothers me so much, even though we are now 1 Billion people we are all spending and wasting our energy in mutual recriminations and fights instead of projecting a unified image of India. Once we are united the world will recognize us.”

3. Need ambassador to speak out

Nagarathnamma Rangappa
I heard the UN ambassador Vijay Nambiar speak in CNN late edition. I was frustrated with the way he answered the questions. Personally I think he did not do a good job. He could have done lot better than Pak ambassador. She was very polished in her speach to the extent she went to convince that Pakisthan (a well known terrorist conutry) as a country of peace and Musharaff (a man playing dual role: as a friend and an enemy for the same cause) as a peace maker. I wish Nambiar was better prepared and put forth the facts to let american people know India's position. I wish he had made it clear that India would not be at war but for the proxy war Pakisthan is being waging on us for over a decade. We need ambassadors who speak clearly and let the world understand that "India is a peace-loving country and Pakisthan is a terrorist organization".

Even when Nambiar was asked why India does not allow third party to interefere, his answers were nt clear. We are clearly in a better postion in all aspects. We have to speak out, we cannot sit hesitant. Especailly people at such high levels (ambassadors). As such media in here is very biased. Therefore, when we have a chance we should make best use of the time.

I think the least that one needs to do as a individual is to defend his/her own country at all levels possible.

4. Interactive session with the CBC's Foreign Correspondents

Naveen :
In a programme on CBC which has interactive session with the CBC's Foreign Correspondents dated 29th May, 2002. The CBC Correspondent Celine Galipeau (Beijing) when asked about a question on Indo-Pak conflict gave an answered the question in most inappropriate biased way.

First she did not talk about the issue of India Pak conflict. Instead she talked about India's internal affairs. She used words and gave her "limited" "skewed" views bay saying that Muslims in India were marganilised, treated badly and are tortured and that state was also party to it. She even used the words like "India will have a "civil-war". Such irresponsible one side "limited" personal views should not be allowed to be shown on national TV. It is a known fact how these CBC "truth" reporters had projected an ordinary story of a girl in Yougoslavia and later it proved that the whole story was FALSE. Such "mis-information" by the media is biased and untrue!!

5. AFR apologizes. Lord Ganesha with atomic bomb, dynamite sticks, chicken and the gestures of obscenity?

Lord Ganesha cartoon in the Financial Express, Australia: The cartoon showed a caricature of Lord Ganesha with four arms standing on a map of India. One hand juggles an atomic bomb, another sticks of dynamite, a third a chicken and the fourth gestures obscenely in the direction of Pakistan. The publication apologized to Hindus recently.

"war between India and Pakistan is unlikely, at least until the end of monsoon season this fall. New Delhi has weighed its options and will not attack Pakistan without Washington's tacit approval -- unless militant attacks across the border in Kashmir become unbearable".
