Mar 18, 2002: BBC corrects “Hindu Militants” to “Activists”

On Saturday ‘Cause We Care’ strongly objected to the statement - “Muslim activists attacked a train carrying Hindu militants back from Ayodhya” in BBC article. BBC accepted ‘Cause We Care’ complaint (and obviously hundreds of our mailing list members) and changed the most objectionable statement in their article. We received email from BBC informing us about this change.

BBC has replaced it with – “Muslims attacked a train carrying Hindu activists back from Ayodhya.”

This is the corrected link at BBC (2nd paragraph)
http://news.bbc.co.uk/hi/english/world/south_asia/newsid_1874000/1874473.stm

Let us clearly mention here, it was not a typographical mistake but an intentional effort to blame the innocent victims as the militants. There are many such efforts going on in several media including BBC web and news.

Thanks a ton to all those who supported this complaint drive. This proves once again “E-Activism works” Let us repeat CWC mission statement:
“We care for cause upholding our national interests and esteem”

CWC continues in their mission with your great support. We are not stopping here. BBC online and BBC news both have been using this word “Hindu Militants” for a while. We are also watching other media as well.
