Arjun Singh"s fatwa against things Hindu

Soon after taking over as the Human Resource "Destruction" Minister, Arjun Singh said the Central Advisory Board on Education (CABE) is likely to finalize the curricula for CBSE after August 2004. He told the national press that his Ministry would "de-saffronise" the curricula and great care will be taken to see that no one would interfere with the project and that the entire exercise is carried out by academicians. When I first read the statement of secular Arjun Singh, I was reminded of the novel entitled "Der Prozess" ("The Trial") by Joseph Kafka (1883-1924). "The Trial " depicted the hopeless attempts of Josef K to survive the nightmarish events that start at his breakfast table. "Someone must have been spreading lies about Josef K, for without having done anything wrong he was arrested one morning". Josef K denies his guilt and starts endless investigations of the court system. But there is no truth and he dies "like a dog". In the story "In der Strafkolonie", the truth is the function of an instrument of torture, a machine that kills its victims by writing the nature of their crime upon their body. Kafka"s characters are punished or threatened with punishment even before they have offended the authorities. Joseph K encountered the merciless effects of law but no identifiable lawgiver. Finally, Joseph K was subjected to the motions of the due process of law and allowed to have his say before being snuffed out with banal savagery in Franz Kafka"s grimly prophetic world-famous novel "The Trial".

Arjun Singh"s committee to review NCERT"s new history textbooks has surpassed that sham trial of Joseph K in Kafka"s novel with its peremptory decision to recommend scrapping of all textbooks earlier commissioned by the NDA government. The Minister calls this the process of non-Talibanisation and non-Saffronisation!

Soon after becoming Human Resources "Destruction" Minister, Arjun Singh took care to carefully select men like Prof JS Grewal and Prof Irfan Habib, who have jointly authored the medieval India section of the Indian History Congress" notorious Index of Errors, which spearheaded the Leftist attack on NCERT. These two historians are to the Hindu "refugees" of India what Hitler was to the Jews of Germany. It is now widely known that Prof Habib met Arjun Singh"s committee, as did the activists of Sahmat, an organization that hosted the press conferences wherein Leftist academics spat venom against NCERT.

While no charge-sheet was served nor evidence adduced regarding the so-called "distorted and communally-biased portions" in any of the books commissioned by the NDA government which were under their scrutiny, the trial was conducted with unseemly haste. In the absence of a formal prosecution, there was, naturally, no defense. Judgment was pronounced at a hastily convened press conference by Arjun Singh.

I am personally amused by this abrasively blatant partisanship, as it has taken the subject of history out of the closet and into the public arena, where all can see the intellectual dishonesty of Marxist historians, political rascality and chicanery of pseudo-secularists like Arjun Singh & Co and above all the tactful silence of the "Mother Superior" holding her sway of benediction over the UPA Nigam Limited in New Delhi in her capacity as chairperson of the UPA Coordination Committee.

I know that I am running the obvious risk of being labeled by the Marxist mercenaries of the CPM, CPI and other Leftist parties on the one hand and all the shades of pseudo-secular anti-Hindu parties like the Congress, RJD, LJP and many other parties as a saffronised divisive "communalist", a fascist and an obscurantist. In my view, the real fascists are the Marxists and Nehruvian Stalinists, who are using the coercive power of the State for putsches, coups and intellectual purges. Arjun Singh, HRD Minister, has been on a jihad lately, shouting "off with his head" at the slightest provocation. He would have been quite at home in Stalin"s Soviet Union, happily deleting individuals and events from the history du jour.

As Rajeev Srinivasan has stated in this context: "This, however, is what one expects: Each nation and culture pumps up the valorous deeds of its people, as part of its propaganda efforts, and to establish its greatness. India, misled by sundry nattering nabobs of negativism, is the only nation that does the opposite, namely downplaying the real and brilliant achievements of its culture and civilization and its citizens. The stunning accomplishments of Indian civilization have been denigrated in a sustained campaign. With Nehruvian Stalinists and Marxists in power, this process has received fresh impetuses.

What is the upshot of all this attempts at de-saffronisation of history text books engineered by the HRD Minister Arjun Singh? UPA, fully supported by the Marxists, Leninists and the Nehruvian Stalinists rests on an effective denial of the spiritual foundations of Indian civilization and of its original, sustained, varied contributions to the progress of humanity. How our spiritual culture has had a great cementing and unifying impact on the Indian masses is also passed over in silence.

An affected author has claimed that the books authored by him and earlier approved by the NDA government have been scrapped at the instance of a cabal determined to monopolize the rendition of Indian history. Certainly the attitude and the activities of the committee appointed by Arjun Singh lends credence to the view that the Marxists cannot afford an open debate on Indian history, and rely exclusively on State power to suppress facts and impose their Marxist interpretations upon an innocent public.

What is Arjun Singh"s definition of de-saffronisation? The whole world would be shocked by the way in which Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa has been introduced in a text book for children officially produced by Arjun Singh"s HRD Ministry through the National Council for Educational Research and Training (NCERT). The non-communal, cosmopolitan and secular author of this book is comrade Satish Deshpande. He is part of Arjun Singh"s crusade to detoxify the students afflicted by the so-called "saffronisation". He has written in this book that "Sri Ramakrishna was an illiterate and mentally unbalanced person". This blasphemous statement cannot be casually dismissed as an individual"s perversion but driven by a Marxist philosophy of class hatred.

In this context I have to refer to the great writings of Romain Rolland (1866-1944) who was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1915 for his famous novel "Jean Christophe". He wrote the biography of Swamy Vivekananda in two volumes. In one of those volumes he wrote how Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa identified the genius and potential of Swami Vivekananda as a spiritual leader of humanity: "Ramakrishna Paramahamsa with his intuitive genius for souls, for whom time was not, and who could discern in the twinkling of an eye the whole flood of the future, believed that he had seen his great disciple in the womb of the elect before he met him in the flesh. I will give here an account of his beautiful vision. We know that a mighty vision creates and produces that which it has seen. In a deeper sense, the prophets of the hereafter have been real characters of what was not yet, but which was trembling on the verge of being. The torrent forming the remarkable destiny of Vivekananda would have been lost in the bowels of the earth, if Ramakrishna"s glance had not, as with one blow of an axe, split the rock barring its way, so that through the breach thus made the river of his soul could flow". Unfortunately for us comrade Satish Deshpande cold-bloodedly writes otherwise about Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa. Arjun Singh and his Marxist comrades would run down Romain Rolland as "communal" and uphold world-famous comrade Satish Deshpande as "secular" and transcendental (!) with the full blessings and benediction of de jure Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh and de facto Prime Minister "Mother Superior".

"At the beginning was fatwa; fatwa was with Arjun Singh; Arjun Singh was fatwa!! Toba! Toba!" ---super Saffron super secular Sundar Singh.
I would like to describe HRD Minister Arjun Singh of today as Pundit Jawaharlal Nehru of yesterday in terms of his capacity for infatuation for all Muslims and positive political hatred for all Hindus. It was Pundit Nehru who laid the foundation for creating a mini Pakistan in Kerala in the late 1950s. This beginning of Islamisation of Kerala reached the first milestone in 1969 when EMS Namboodripad gave the gift of Malappuram district to the Moplahs or Malabar Muslims in 1969 by splitting up the old Calicut and Palghat districts, resulting in absolute Muslim majority in this district. To quote the most appropriate words of the eminent journalist Udayan Namboodiri in this context: "Search as much as you like, but in the entire annals of free India it would be impossible to find a parallel to such brazen implementation of the two-nation theory. And belated too, by 22 years, which should shock those under the illusion that the "secularism" which was enshrined in our Constitution rejects religion as a parameter in official delimitation exercises". This process of Islamisation of India which began in the late 1950s is now getting its finishing touches in the consummate hands of Human Resources "Destruction" Minister Arjun Singh!

As Arjun Singh derives his instructions on the re-writing of NCERT history textbooks from Sonia Gandhi, he has indivisible contempt for the views of Mahatma Gandhi, the father of our nation, on the subject of Indian nationalism. Perhaps Arjun Singh thinks that Mahatma Gandhi was also unduly saffronised by his love for Lord Rama and Hinduism unlike his own romantic political passion for things Islamic. When "eminent historians" as well as prominent congress leaders like Bal Gangadar Tilak, Arbindo Gosh and Mahatma Gandhi have categorically declared that India was one nation long before the British came, Arjun Singh in one stroke has done away with nearly 5000 years of Indian history by endorsing the British historians, that it was only after the British came that India became one nation. While giving his approval to the new politically- distorted textbooks, Arjun Singh has not even bothered to check whether he is not questioning the foundation of the thesis of Mahatma Gandhi and other great Indian nationalists, who fought against the British for our freedom. Arjun Singh has gone to the extent of suggesting that "idea of India" as a nation "took shape only during our freedom struggle".

Shocked and shaken by the British canard that India was not a nation before the coming of British, Mahatma Gandhi wrote about the existence of the concept of Indian "nation" in his "Hindu-Swarajya" in 1909 exposing the British fraud:

"The English have taught us that we were not a nation before and it will require centuries before we become one nation. This is without foundation. We were one nation before they came to India. One thought inspired us. Our mode of life was the same. It was because we were one nation that they were able to establish one kingdom. Our leading men traveled throughout India either on foot or in bullock-carts. What do you think could have been the intention of those farseeing ancestors of ours who established Setubandh (Rameswaram) in the south, Jagnnath in the east and Haridwar in the north as places of pilgrimage? You will admit that they were no fools. They knew that worship of God could have been performed at home. They taught us that those whose hearts were aglow with righteousness had the Ganga in their own homes. (Mana changa to kathauti mein Ganga). But they saw that India was one undivided land so made by nature. They, therefore, argued that it must be one nation. Arguing thus, they established holy places in various parts of India and fired the people with the idea of nationality in a manner unknown in other parts of the world".

Step by step, aided and abetted by the all the Communists of different hues and shades now part of the UPA coalition in New Delhi, our helpless nation has traveled from different stages of non-saffronisation to minority communalization to minority Talibanisation to Arjun Singh"s detoxification. The solemnly pseudo-secular advertisement issued by the HRD Ministry, Government of India, and published in several newspapers on 30 July, 2004 will take the cake under this category. The advertisement carried the title "Students" interest - our foremost concern". Arjun Singh thought that he was showing his great concern towards the Muslims and Christians of India, minority vote banks of the Congress party, by appointing a three-member committee-all former presidents of Indian History Congress- for re-writing the NCERT textbooks in keeping with his pernicious anti-Hindu philosophy of non-saffronisation and detoxification. According to this philosophy, anything saffron is poisonous and anything green is human, humane, cultured, civilized and "secular". They were expected to identify the "mistakes and communal passages in the current history textbooks of NCERT earlier approved by the NDA government and suggest alternative expressions". They could not comment or even deny the evidence given in the textbooks on the issues like cow eating in ancient India, Aryan migration, Vedic civilization, science, astronomy, mathematics etc during the Vedic period, atrocities on Hindus and destruction of the places of worship during the medieval period. Despite the fact that there were no mistakes or so called communal passages found in the earlier textbooks, the members recommended that the books should be withdrawn. They only implemented the fatwa issued against the academic community as a whole (excepting pseudo-secular Marxist/ Congress favorites) by Arjun Singh.

One of the earlier textbooks of the NCERT managed the feat of writing about Jehangir"s reign without mentioning his execution of Guru Arjun Singh. The persecution and execution of subsequent Gurus by successive Mughal rulers was similarly glossed over. This process of selective exclusion made it difficult for the ordinary student to understand as to why the Sikhs, Marathas and Jats offered such sustained resistance to Mughal rule for so long a time. All of us should appreciate the fact that India is no ordinary country, and that the history of India is actually the story of the triumphs and travails of a great civilization. Arjun Singh and his UPA fellow Marxists are committed to the devilish task of fragmenting and erasing India"s civilization memory. So it is no small wonder that they are resisting even simple non-interpretative factual narratives from reaching school children at all levels. The only Hinduism which they like is a museum Hinduism; any Hinduism that displays a will to survive is treated with the same horror that would be aroused if an Egyptian mummy were to show signs of life.

All responsible citizens of India who love Bharatvarsh and Bharat Mata, who love the Mahabharata and the Ramayana , the Vedas and the Upanishads, and of course the Bhaghavat Gita should strongly condemn the unabashed and ludicrous efforts of our anti-Hindu, anti-national HRD Minister Arjun Singh to erase and rewrite the history of Bharatvarsh. I was very touched by the following poem written by Amogh Shaikh in this context:

Kalyug Ka Mantri Arjun Singh!!
Who is the present HRD Minister?
Obsessed with a motive so sinister
He flip-flops history with his friends in the sly
Our national heroes become zeroes in the blink of an eye
The glory of Bharatiya history and civilization
Is now being pushed into the deep seas of oblivion
He is the present prophet of so called Indian "secularism"
With a mission to destroy the essence of Bharatiya nationalism
By what name do we call this evil being?
None but Kalyug ka Mantri Arjun Singh!
Rama and Krishna, our national icons so towering and great
Have been demoted to the level of symbols of hate
Their existence even have been put into a shroud
To make the "seculars" and comrades feel proud.
Invader Ghori is glorified in his new book
Prithviraj is shown as a coward and a crook
Traitor Jaichand is depicted as a brave fighter
Well! A Marxist historian could never write any better
He has successfully exerted his official might
Hence, Upanishads & Gita have vanished from the sight
Sri Ramkrishna, the spiritual guru of Swami Vivekananda
Has been now declared to be mentally unbalanced
Who is he, so notorious and cunning?
None but Kalyug Ka Mantri Arjun Singh!
So arise! Sisters and brothers of Bharatvarsh
All these falsehoods trample and crush
It is our duty towards our motherland
To aggressively act and protest on demand
Give him the taste of his own medicine
He deserves to be banished for his sin
An example must be set so loud and clear
Even in a thousand years no one would ever dare
We shall not allow anymore this plunder and pillage!
We shall set things right before our children come of age!
Join and unitedly make this supreme vow
Without a doubt the time is perfectly ripe now
What should be done now as the final thing?
Throw into oblivion this Kalyug Ka Mantri Arjun Singh!

Petty men like our HRD Minister cannot silence Hindu voice for ages to come. Hinduism has withstood the onslaught of external invaders for more than 2000 years. It is capable of defending itself against all its internal invaders, the torchbearers of pseudo-secularism, who are trying to hold aloft the green flag of de-saffronisation.
