This is an outrage that America should try to force India to do their bidding and have their sons killed for the greedy American oil interests. It just goes to show you how low this American administration is stooping to prevent the political backlash in America. Can we please start a petition to voice our opposition to this disgraceful request and send it to the Indian Embassy and Indian Government? It must be stopped! If India, another soverign country who was steadfast against this unjustified war on Iraq, bends to this pressure...it will only serve to reward this American administration for its egotistical, power-hungry and war-making policies.

India should at least from now on. During the 50 years India always opposed US whether it is in UN or NON-aligned (an useless organization). When they opposed US tooth and nail everywhere they should not expect US to support India. Let us make a beginning from now and start supporting US. India will only benefit from this.

As for Indian soldiers being killed in Iraq. Well what about the Indian soldiers killed in Kashmir by the militants. When did the Journalists of Indian media and the Politicians realize that the soldiers are also human beings? It is sad that many of the Indian journalists like Arundhathi Roy etc are terrorist sympathisers. They have absolutely no regard for a soldier's life.

By deploying troops in Iraq, Indian soldiers will be exposed to modern warfare tactics of US. Besides US will also be removing all restrictions on the supplies of sophisticated military hardware. Unless India boldly supports US, it is doomed to be an irrelevant country.

Will America stand by & support India, if India takes action on Pakistan just as America took against Taliban & Al-quida in Afganistan. Will America sign an agreement with India to this effect, before asking us to send Indian troops to Iraq?. If America is not willing to support India on Kashmir & ending cross border terrorism, India can send troops ONLY UNDER UNITED NATIONS Flag.

This writer is apparently anti-NDA and anti-progress ideologist with the leftist economic concepts. The writer does not conceal his anti-free market stand. He forgets the immense progress made in India and her external policies during the reign of NDA government. US anti-India policies dates back to the foolish communistic, pro-Russian and pro-Chinese policies of Nehru and Krishna Menon. No government on the earth today could stand against the super power USA. Any wrong move by Indian government against US will harm India's economic progress and will weaken her in every sphere. NDA has improved its foreign policies and has brought about a major change in US policies towards India. Previously, even smaller states even in the neighborhood of India insulted her. Let's not make a foolish decision today. Indian troops have been sent all over the world including to fight Hindus in Sri Lanka. A small token contribution of Indian troops to Iraq will not change the US equation there, but it will bring a lot of contracts and employment to India for Iraq's development. On the other hand, Pakistan will be the winner again with Paki troops in Iraq. India has accumulated a lot of problems today due to 50 years of misrule and foolish ideology. Let's become pragmatic and do something good for our mother country. Please don't ever believe that these Muslim countries are ever going to back India against Pakistan. Jai Hind.

Did anyone notice Australian Forces [who were the 2nd biggest ally of USA in the attack on Iraq] have brought their troops back home. Of course USA will now look for any "third party" [expendable] troops as a buffer. You don't need to be a rocket scientist to know the US motives to woo India on this. Lets hope our Indian govt. doesn't get sucked into it. A Proud Nationalist, Karigar, Sydney

Perhaps we should attempt to reach our congressman and senators, as well as the think tanks and the black caucus to see our point of view about our position with respect to Paksitan and it's WMD's and terrorism.

I believe we can reach our congress and senators and have them support us and change Bush's policies. Iraq is not our war and there does not seem to be any evidence of weapons of mass destruction as we used in Iraq ourselves. India should use diplomacy and dialogue to her advantage without having to get involved in poorly designed policies of the Bush administration.

Ask yourselves, exactly what are we getting and what are we compromising for what we " be "might" be getting. Is the risk worth the reward. Why are we being forced to play the under cards. India is in a better position to negotiate better for herself instead compromising and settling. Besides, why are asking for permission from others to go after Pakistan? Also, when will show Pakistan that we don't this saga to continue and we will put a stop to it once and for all. Why are we waiting for Pakistan to have military superiority over us when we can put the issue of Kashmir to rest once and for all.
