Hindu hate groups in the U.S are trying to stop PBS from showing a documentary, "Soul of a Nation", on the recent genocide against Muslims in India. This is the first major attempt by the US media to publicize the horrific violence against Muslims and to highlight the eminent threat posed by the right wing Hindu fundamentalist groups to the very existence of Muslims and other religious minorities in India.

A major source of funding (in millions of dollars) for the extremist organizations like the World Hindu Council (VHP-America) is from the non-resident Indian community in the U.S., who might be contributing for seemingly religious/educational causes but instead that money is being used by such fascist rganizations to spread their moral terpitude against the minorities including Christians, Muslims and other underprivildged classes. Dear PBS,

I have been watching PBS program's for a long time and commend you on your quality and unbiased programming. I am writing to express my appreciation for airing the wide angle documentary 'India, Soul

of a Nation' on the recent spate of violence in the Indian state of Gujarat and I am eagerly waiting to watch it in my <area>.

I urge you not to be intimadated by the right-wing Hindu hate groups in the U.S. who have launched a campaign against the airing of the documentary. These groups, namely VHP-America and the Hindu

Swayamsevak Sangh (HSS) espouse fascist groups in India that claim the subjugation of minorities as its "Hindutva "ideology. They are on no moral or ethical ground to protest against the airing of a documentary that exposes the deeds of their fellow comrades in India.

The role of VHP and other fascist organizations in India, of planning and perpetrating pogroms against minorities is not only well established by the media and other humanitarian organizations (including the US Human Rights Watch), but also by their own 'boastful' accounts and threats.

I would also like to point out to you that these same groups were invited on Michael Krasny's 'Forum' on NPR after the massacres in Gujarat.Forget about making an excuse, these groups didn't even return the call.

Please note that these groups are truly fascist organizations, following the fascist type of militancy, thought control, espousing the cause of one party, one culture and one nation. Their religious extremism leads them to pursue the politics of hatred, striking terror in the minds of minorities and secular Hindus.

America is all about freedom of speech and pluralism, and it shouldn't deter a station like PBS from their planned schedule and I'm confident that PBS will not be intimidated by these fascists.
