Dear (Name),

The Tribune appreciates your concern and sensitivity over the story it published on June 2, examining the practices of the Aghoris.

The Tribune meant absolutely no disrespect of the Hindu religion. In fact, the story was clear in describing that this sect was antithetical to the teachings of Hindu. However, that information was not emphasized sufficiently high in the story.

The story was meant to be a look at one man's journey to India to learn more of the Aghoris and in particular an American practioner. In retrospect, we feel the story should have had more context and additional comments from authorities on the Hindu religion.

We regret that any offense was taken by this story.
