We all signatories wish to bring to your notice a major error in India map
in the Microsoft MapPoint 2002 software. The state of Jammu & Kashmir
(J&K) is being shown as 'DISPUTED' state of
India (also the Arunachal Pradesh)
Read Details. This is a complete
misrepresentation of the facts. United Nations and many other international
bodies do not term J&K as 'DISPUTED' in
their official map.
J&K is an integral part of India by the 'Instrument of Accession of Jammu
and Kashmir State to India' (dated 26 October, 1947). The only disputed
territories are 'Pak Occupied Kashmir (POK)' and 'China Occupied Kashmir (COK)'.
We strongly object to the word 'Disputed' used for the 'Indian Kashmir' (and
Arunachal Pradesh) in Mappoint software. We request you to immediately
withdraw this word used for 'Indian Kashmir' OR withdraw this map
completely.
We hope our request will be given due respect.
Sincerely,
The undersigned
